The American Express Platinum Delta Skymiles Credit Card is one of the best single-airline dedicated rewards cards on the market.
Users of the card recieve one (1) mile for every $1.00 of purchases they make with the card, and two (2) miles for every $1.00 of spending at participating merchants and retailers, includings flights and other items purchased from Delta Air Lines and delta.com
Users who apply for the card and are approved received a twenty thousand (20,000) mile sign up bonus. Five thousand (5,000) miles count as base miles (also known as Medallion Qualification Miles or MQMs) which can be counted towards achieving Elite Status, upgrades, bonuses, and more. The remaining 15,000 miles are bonus miles.
There are no blackout dates - you can redeem your miles for any seat on any Delta flight! On the anniversary of each membership year, you will receive a complimentaty companion coupon good for a free companion ticket when the first tick is purchased with your card.
Through the Skyteam, owners of Delta points and awards can use them on more than 15 partner airlines around the world. If you do not have enough miles for a whole ticket, you can use miles to pay for part of a ticket - and just put the rest on your card.
As long as the cardholder travels on Delta at least one time every 24 months, the miles do not expire, and there is no yearly limit on the amount of miles you can earn, unlike other cards.
Cardholders can earn a "Miles Boost" of 10,000 Medallion Qualification Miles when they spend $25,000 in a calendar year, and an additional 10,000 MQMs when they reach $50,000 in spending in a given year. Combined with the sign on bonus of 5,000 MQMs, If you spend $50,000 on the card in the first year, you could achieve elite status right away!
The card does have a $150 annual fee, but the 20,000 mile sign on bonus is worth as much as $400 alone. Cardholders also receive the common American Express enhanced travel benefits, which include car rental insurance, accident insurance, premium purchase protection, and year end statements.
